Ahh celebrities. Of music and acting for the world of supermodeling and sports–they are respected, admired, even worship, talent and a magnet. But here lies the danger when it’s a public support or endorse the viewpoints and health products and medicines without first thoroughly explore scientific validity as it claims.
Why are the dangers? For the segment of the population–especially the children are easily influenced by star-celebrity role model-and the point of view statements (however erroneous and unfounded they may be) read with great interest and often accepted without challenge.
Consider the impact that this statement of supermodel Gisele Bundchen might be on a teenage girl fashion-conscious when Bundchen public expressed disdain for sunscreen: “I cannot put this poison on the skin … I do not use any synthetic, “he said in 2011. His comments brought this truer perspective of pharmaceutical scientist Gary Moss: “cosmetic products–including sunscreens–set up and tested extensively before they are allowed into the market.
